Debut Album

Public Enemy

Yo! Bumrush The Show, the debut album from Long Island, New York rap group Public Enemy, is released on Def Jam. The band's minimalist style and confrontational political lyrics don't find a home on radio, but the album sells steadily, going Gold in the U.S. in 1989.
